Heron Preston Johnson - AMERICAN, b.1983, San Francisco, CA - is a designer, artist, DJ and father (girl dad) who lives and works in New York City.

Heron established his namesake label in 2004 from his bedroom in S.F.  What started out as a visual curation of graphic t-shirts has since then evolved into a critically acclaimed international clothing and lifestyle brand.

Authenticity is paramount. Curiosity is critical. Less is more. These principles are what guide the brand. Heron is fascinated and inspired by many things: his African American heritage, skateboarding, how people live, and playing loud dance music late at night in intimate spaces.

Rooted in real-world utility and shaped by his instinct for subversion, Heron’s work is a blend of precision and cultural tension. Each piece is built on clear codes—functional clarity, refined proportions, and an unapologetic graphic language.

The aesthetic is minimal but charged with a sense of urban rawness.  Structure and utility are borrowed from the honesty of workwear and the backbone of military.

Each piece is designed to adapt universally and endure—clothing you never have to think about because it simply works. Comfortable garments engineered to live, age, and evolve prioritizing longevity over spectacle.

The result: a timeless wardrobe built for real life with New York attitude—direct, modern, adaptable, functional, and unmistakably H.P.

Heron studied at:
Parsons School of Design
NYC + Paris
B.B.A. 2007

Heron was nominated for the CFDA Emerging Designer of the Year award in 2019.  In 2022 his work with the NYC Dept. of Sanitation was acquired by the Metropolitan Museum of Art’s permanent collection.
