HP Mini View: Diane Pernet, A Shaded View on Fashion

Style, Very New York

Diane Pernet

Before moving to Paris, friends of mine started to give me the names and emails of people they knew in Paris. I wanted to put a face to the names I was receiving, so I started to Google them in search of photos. I came across Diane’s website, A Shaded View on Fashion with Google’s image search. Once I figured out Diane was the person behind ASVOF, I immediately lost interest in the person I was searching for. I then without delay, got in contact with her and set up a meeting.

Her personal style, history and the way she has embraced web technology today forms an interesting dichotomy, which is what created my initial attraction for her. I still don’t come across many blogs that have embraced the “blogging by mobile phone” software that’s out there when it can add so much more value to a website. ASVOF was the first one I had seen using the technology. [Leave me out of this, I'm just waiting for the new Blackberry 8800].

Besides her personal style, history and online skills, no sleep, always traveling and “never not working” are some words that can describe Diane’s lifestyle. One day she might be in Greece, the next Portugal, back up to Paris for a pit stop then off to Barcelona. Her drive is what ultimately inspires me to push for more. Now, every time I fly out to Paris, Diane is always on the top of my list of people I look forward to visiting.

Heron Fantasizes:
I’d never skip class if she were my design teacher.

First day of class, I’d sit next to her and plan to have her in all of my group projects.

Flat hair. I can dig it.
